Sick Tamburo was born from an idea by Elisabetta Imelio and Gian Maria Accusani, previously associated with Prozac+. Elisabetta and Gian Maria chose
the name Sick Tamburo, originally conceived for Gian Maria’s noise percussion project, now known as Hardcore Tamburo.
Sick Tamburo began by posting a few songs on MySpace (In fumota, Finché tu sei qua, Topoallucinazione, and Quel paese) and the video for “Tocca 24/7”
on YouTube, in which they appear wearing white masks to hide their faces. They decided to use nicknames: Gian Maria chose Mr. Man, while Elisabetta
opted for Boom Girl. However, they were recognized and abandoned the masks, choosing balaclavas instead for aesthetic reasons. They immediately
signed up to La Tempesta Dischi, a collective of independent artists led by Tre allegri ragazzi morti, also from Pordenone.
Sick Tamburo’s self-titled debut album was released on April 10, 2009. The twelve songs, written and composed by Gian Maria, feature repetitive rhythms
accompanied by minimalist lyrics. The artwork is by Alessandro Baronciani. Their first official single, “Il mio cane con tre zampe,” was released on April 20,
2009, marking the beginning of their collaboration with Stefano Poletti, who also directed their subsequent music videos. They received awards at the
Meeting delle Etichette Indipendenti (MEI), its independent chart, and began a live tour that included festivals including La Tempesta sotto le stelle,
Rivolution Fest, and the Festa di Radio Onda d’Urto. In November 2009, their second single, “Parlami per sempre,” was released, filmed in Parma’s paper
dump.
In October 2011, the single “E so che sai che un giorno” heralded the release of their second album, “A.I.U.T.O.” dated November 4, 2011. Its themes are
summarized in the acronym “Highly Irritating Human Obsessive Techniques.” The album contains 12 tracks and the artwork is by Jacopo Lietti. The
“A.I.U.T.O. Tour,” which began in Milan on November 25, takes the band across Italy.
On April 28, 2014, the music video for the song “Il fiore per te” (The Flower for You) was released, a preview of the album “Senza vergogna.” Davide Toffolo
of Tre allegri ragazzi morti, who also designed the album cover, appeared in the video and song. “Senza vergogna” was released on June 3, 2014, and
contains ten tracks that revolve around manias, quirks, and obsessions. Things we’ve been taught to keep hidden, things that are part of all of us and
therefore shouldn’t be shamed.
In 2017, “Un giorno nuovo,” Sick Tamburo’s fourth album, was released on La Tempesta Dischi. Produced by Gian Maria Accusani in his studio for Discgust
Music Production, it contains nine original tracks and continues the musical journey the band began in 2007, taking it to a new level with a renewed
interweaving of electric guitars and synthesizers, driving rhythms, and wave melodies. The album is preceded by the title track Un giorno nuovo, while the
song Meno male che ci sei tu features the special participation of Motta (Sick Tamburo’s first fan) on vocals and darabouka.
A version of the song “La fine della chemio,” from the album “Un giorno nuovo,” is being released, featuring some of the best Italian singers: Jovanotti, Tre
Allegri Ragazzi Morti, Manuel Agnelli, Samuel, Elisa, Meg, Lo Stato Sociale, Pierpaolo Capovilla, and Prozac+. The artists perform the song alongside
Elisabetta Imelio and Gian Maria Accusani, former members of Prozac+ and part of Sick Tamburo, for a charity project. Proceeds will be donated in part to
A.N.D.O.S. of Pordenone, an association for women who have undergone breast surgery, a group of highly active volunteers, and in part to the “Donne in
Rosa Lago Burida” canoe team, women who have undergone breast surgery and who use sport to spread their motto: “Together we always win.”
Paura e l’amore, the new album of original songs published by La Tempesta dischi, will be released on April 5, 2019, followed by an extensive promotional
tour.
In 2020, the band announced their Back to the Roots project, culminating in the album Back to the Roots (Forse è l’amore), released in 2022. This album
reinterprets Sick Tamburo’s most significant songs in a melodic punk style. The album was followed by an extensive tour that lasted throughout 2022.
On April 21, 2023, Sick Tamburo released their new album of original songs, Non credere a nessuno, their sixth album, via La Tempesta Dischi. It was
preceded by the single “Per sempre con me,” featuring Roberta Sammarelli (Verdena). The band then embarked on an extensive tour throughout Italy.
On November 19, 2025, the single and video “Ho perso i sogni” were released, followed on December 18 by the song “Silvia corre sola”: the first two
previews of the new album, due out in early 2026.
