‘Huw Stephens Presents’ is a new live music night from Radio 1’s Huw Stephens, adding to his long running night at The Social with this new regular event in London. It’s set to feature a wide range of acts drawing on Huw Stephens’ own eclectic taste in music. ‘Huw Stephens Presents’ will reflect contemporary new music in all its forms.
Huw Stephens said: ‘Live music has always been close to my heart, the thrill of watching a brilliant band play in front you. My monthly night at the Social has been running for ten years now and I’m excited to compliment that night with this one, with well-established and breaking artists. As a huge music fan the unifying theme will be on quality music of all genres, in great music venues with a wonderful audience. I’ll be DJing and hosting on the night, and I want these shows to be special for everyone involved.’’
The launch on the 18th February 2016 at Camden’s Dingwalls will be headlined by Little Comets, a band who were first played on Radio 1 by Huw Stephens. Little Comets are one of the best live bands around, taking The 1975 and Catfish and the Bottlemen as their support bands of choice. For the launch night on 18th Feb, Huw has chosen two great up and coming bands to play, with current Radio 1 play listed FICKLE FRIENDS and recent Transgressive Records signings HIPPO CAMPUS from Minnesota joining the bill.
The shows will be booked and presented by Steve Tilley and Carlo Scarampi at Kilimanjaro Live, recent winners of Live UK’s National Promoter of The Year accolade for the company’s work with Ed Sheeran, Bastille, Coasts, The 1975, Catfish and the Bottlemen and many more.
Said Tilley: ‘’I thought I was passionate and obsessed about new music until I met Huw Stephens, then I realised I had so much more to do to come close. His curation of new music across the genres via his radio work has been outstanding and to get to work with him on this new concept is just brilliant. We will handle the logistics and Huw will give us the direction to be able to approach the artists he wants to appear.’’
